It seems LegoLand may kick themselves in the arse right from the get go by confusing the customer with a wacky schedule, and further limiting their appeal. They will be closed on Tues & Weds after the first two weeks, but on certain weeks they will be open those days. Some may say no problem, but I think the average person is going to assume that the park is open 7 days week 365, and this may cause a big problem when they take the trip only to find that the brand new LegoLand park is closed for the day. Consumer confidence could easily be lost if this were to happen too many times. It seems very odd to me that a company would open a new theme park and not be open 7 days a week. I think it puts doubts in consumers minds, and suggests that the operator has doubts as well. This may or may not be a good decision from a strictly operational stand point. But either way I dont think it will look good in the eyes of consumers. So why would they want to put another strike against themselves, when they are probably already at bat with two. Those strikes being limited appeal and location.

One could also assume that anyone who has knowledge of the previous operations, will probably also view this in a negative light. Saying "ahh here we go again."

BTW I'm already aware that no decision has been made on the 2012 schedule, this pertains only to the remainder of 2011.

Yeah, that is a bit troubling. That might work for Legoland CA, but in Florida tourists EXPECT the park to be open every day. And trust me, people WILL come out on TUES & WEDS after not looking at the schedule. I mean really... Who looks at a park schedule before they go to a park in Florida when EVERY other park is open 7 days?

What I would do is open 7 days from 9am to 7pm for the first several months. Then, if necessary, begin to dial that back once the attendance figures have been established.

Hope it works out for them, but I think it's going to bite them in the butt.

One would expect a major brand theme park like Legoland to be open 7 days a week all year like all the other major brand theme parks in Florida. This will obviously really annoy anyone that makes the effort (and it is extra effort to get to LL from the other main attractions) to go and it is closed when they get there. Obviously LL is trying to reduce cost by closing a couple of the week days during slow season and it also just happens the park grand opening is during the slow season.

No doubt a negative. One would think LL would make enough money during the peak seasons and weekends to allow it to be open 7 days a week all the time like the other major brand attractions. If LL is not a large success with high attendance for the year - closing a couple of days a week during slow seasons will be the least of their problems. Hopefully LL knows what they are doing and quick to adjust if they see they are wrong.

I completely agree with Ed, Greg, & Cage. For the sake of community and LL hopefully this works out. Sadly from past performance at this location I am not going to hold my breath.

Unfortunately, a limited operating schedule further decreases the value of a Legoland annual pass compared with the mega parks. An adult who wants a 1 year Legoland pass that includes parking will have to pay $170.00 ($159.00 + $11 sales tax).

I recently renewed a 2 year pass that includes parking for both Busch Gardens and Sea World for only $218.00 ($204.59 + $13.00 sales tax). For only $109.00 a year, I'm getting access to two mega parks that are open 365 days a year and have extended operating hours during the summer. I think Legoland needs to rethink its pricing structure if it wants to stay competitive.

So... Out of curiosity... What should Legoland do when a guest appears on a Tuesday or Wednesday?

Should there be an empty park with a moose standing there saying, "Sorry folks! We're closed!"

Or might it be better if there was a greeter of some kind who offers a compensation (like maybe a free lunch voucher or something) for them?

Hopefully they have a contingency plan for that scenario.

I am sure that after December 2011 they'll change their schedule. They'll have to, since their calendar it is not on par with the other Central Florida attractions. A great attraction such as LEGOLAND should be open 7 days a week in Florida, and they should also review the park's opening hours. 5 p.m. is way too early, even for a kids-centered theme park.

Was just looking at the schedule... That Tuesday/Wednesday thing seems pretty erratic...

Official Legoland Florida Schedule

October - Open Every Day.

November - OPEN on the 22nd and 23rd (for Thanksgiving I expect.)

December - OPEN on the 20th, 21st, and 27th, 28th. (And open until 7pm the week after Christmas day.)

January - Closed every Tues/Wed of the month.

February - OPEN for the 21st and 22nd.

March - *OPEN* every Tues/Wed but CLOSED on the 6th and 7th... (Oh, and open later hours for much of the month.)

I'm sure they know what they're doing... Hope this works out for them!

I really hope they will make it a real year-round theme park. It should be open 365 days a year, just like every other theme park in Orlando. LEGOLAND is already proving extremely successful BEFORE it even opened (the sales of the Annual Passes have well exceeded the expectations of the company), so I'm sure it would be quite busy every day of the year.

They really should run a year round schedule -- those schedules make sense up north where the weather is terrible in the winter. But, Florida theme parks should be open 365.

They could do a "garden days" schedule to keep costs down on slow days -- How exactly are they planning to get 2 million guests with all those days that they are closed?
